The style for the day was elegant country garden, with a subtle colour mix of ivory, blush pink, dusky pink and mauve which worked beautifully with the decor in Arley Hall.

Rebecca’s wedding bouquet was a cascading teardrop shape bouquet including a mix of roses, hydrangea, astilbe and stocks with eucalyptus foliage.

The bridesmaids each carried a hand tied bouquet designed to match with the bride’s bouquet, with a just hint of dusky pink and more ivory and champagne flowers.

Rebecca & Ernstjan’s wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church in Great Budworth, an incredibly beautiful church and the village itself is the perfect setting for a country garden wedding.

We decorated in the church with simple pew end arrangements and large pedestal arrangements placed at the front. The arrangements included a mix of hydrangea, roses, spray roses, blooms, limonium and waxflower. If you are looking for ideas for your own wedding ceremony decorations please take a look at our gallery to see more examples of our work.

We love to add special floral details around your wedding venue, especially in the entrance area and other spaces where guests are likely to mingle during the day. This delicate eucalyptus garland and clusters of pastel roses worked perfectly to decorate across the top of their welcome sign and we also created a matching corner swag to dress the gorgeous table plan frame.

In the reception room at Arley Hall they decided to have a mix of high and low centrepiece arrangements on the tables. The gold candelabra displays each had a selection of small vases and tea lights arranged around the base and the matching low posy arrangements also had a selection of tea lights to add lots of candle light around the room.

The top table was decorated with a long flower garland of roses, hydrangea and blooms with mixed greenery. Pillar candles on gold stands were also placed along the table to co-ordinate with the other gold details on the guest tables.

Paula & Steve’s Valentine’s day wedding flowers Mon, 12 Feb 2018 15:25:22 +0000 ]]> Happy Valentine’s day to you all and a very special Valentine’s 1st Wedding Anniversary to this gorgeous pair! We had the best day celebrating with Paula & Steve at the beautiful Wasing Park last year. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of their special day and provide wedding flowers for our wonderful friends.

Thank you Paula & Steve for sharing your amazing wedding photos by Joe Mallen Photography. I think this first one has to be one of my favourites!

photos by Joe Mallen

The colour scheme for the wedding was yellow and royal blue but there were also elements of red and navy. Having discussed the colours and where they featured within the wedding we decided to keep the wedding flowers mostly cream and yellow with hints of navy and lots of greenery for a natural look.

Steve is a firefighter and they wanted to incorporate this into their wedding, including Paula’s fabulous fire engine wedding day transport! Along with fire buckets, mini fire engine favours and some great photo booth accessories.

spring wedding flowers

Paula’s wedding bouquet was a textured, spring mix of ranunculus, stocks, forsythia, narcissi, daisies, eryngium thistle and alstroemeria. Their bridesmaids wore royal blue dresses and each carried smaller bouquets designed to match with the bride’s bouquet.

To be able to get the most use from the decorations throughout the day we designed two different centrepieces, 4 lanterns with flower bases and 4 fire buckets with natural arrangements. These were used to decorate the wedding ceremony room and then moved to the guest tables for the reception.

The lantern arrangements were displayed on tall plinths at the entrance and on either side of the ceremony table. And we decorated along the aisle with a mixed foliage garland and the fire bucket arrangements.

Blush and navy Samlesbury Hall wedding Tue, 16 Jan 2018 12:43:27 +0000 ]]> If you are looking for inspiration for your wedding colour scheme I have a stunning navy blue and blush pink Samlesbury Hall wedding to share with you. This colour combination can work at any time of the year and create a classic, romantic look for your wedding day.

Helen and Sean had an elegant winter wedding at Samlesbury Hall, a gorgeous Lancashire wedding venue. The stunning black and white, medieval building is set in beautiful woodland grounds, offering plenty of backdrops for your wedding photos.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the incredibly talented Rachel Joyce Photography for sending me these beautiful photographs from their wedding.

Rachel Joyce - Laurel Weddings

Helen had a clear idea of the style of bouquet she wanted for the wedding, and we discussed using a variety of flower types to create the unstructured, flowing design she liked. The bridal bouquet included White O’hara garden roses, freesia, ranunculus and lilac, along with eryngium thistle to add a hint of navy and trailing greenery.

The bridesmaids each carried a similar, smaller design but we incorporated more blush pink to match with their pink shawls. The bouquets were finished with natural silk and satin ribbon trails.

The decorations for their wedding ceremony included candelabra arrangements displayed on plinths at the entrance and on either side of the ceremony table. The candelabra with fresh flower arrangements were then used as table centrepieces for the reception. Glass hurricane vases with ivory LED pillar candles were placed along the aisle and two small arrangements were used to decorate the ceremony table.

To create a romantic backdrop for their ceremony and reception we designed a large foliage heart decorated with clusters of flowers, which was hung on the wall behind the ceremony table and then the top table for the reception.

The reception room at Samlesbury Hall has a dramatic wrought iron chandelier which can be left plain or decorated with garlands of greenery and flowers. There is a large fireplace which can also be decorated if you want to add more details in the room.

Helen & Sean decided to have a mix of high and low table centrepieces, both incorporating candles for their wedding reception flowers. The candelabra arrangements from the ceremony decor were displayed on half of the tables and the others featured a hurricane vase with a wreath arrangement around the base. To see more examples of table centrepiece designs and other reception flowers please take a look at our gallery.

The top table was decorated with three floral arrangements, one main arrangement in the centre and two smaller arrangements placed at either end. For extra candle light and to match with the guest tables we added a selection of candles and tea lights in between the arrangements.

To bring in the navy blue to the reception decor they chose navy blue swags across the front of the top table with navy and lace tails at each end. The chairs were also dressed to match with a double navy and lace sash. The swags and chair decor was provided by Simply Bows and Chair Covers Lancashire.

Dusky pink wedding flowers at Inglewood Manor Wed, 29 Nov 2017 14:07:33 +0000 ]]> Vik and Martin had a beautiful spring wedding at Inglewood Manor, a gorgeous country house hotel in Cheshire. To suit the season and style of the venue they chose a soft pastel colour theme for the decorations including dusky pink wedding flowers mixed with other ivory and nude flowers.

For the bridal bouquet I created a natural, unstructured design including roses, ranunculus, hydrangea, gypsophila and trailing greenery. Vik’s bouquet was designed in more neutral colours with subtle hints of nude and blush pink, where as the bridesmaids’ simpler hand tied bouquets included more blush and dusky pink wedding flowers to match their dresses.

The bouquets were finished with trailing satin and silk ribbons in a shades of ivory, nude and blush pink.

If you are a nature lover and looking for decor inspiration for your wedding day, then take a look at this gorgeous enchanted forest styling at Katie & Scott’s Peckforton Castle wedding. The combination of textured greenery, moss and natural tree bark reflects the amazing woodland surroundings of this fabulous wedding venue and worked beautifully within the Great Hall.

To co-ordinate with their wedding stationery and to add a hint of colour we discussed incorporating flowers in shades of dusky mauve, lavender and purple. The flowers we used included roses and lisianthus with soft romantic scents from dried lavender, freesia and stocks.

Peckforton Castle is such a grand venue and has many different areas to decorate, I would always recommend concentrating the majority of your budget on the main ceremony and reception space and then consider the main entrance, walkways and drinks reception area for extra details. This beautiful floral heart is from our silk flower hire selection which can be designed to match your other decorations. The heart was hung at the entrance arch, above the steps leading into the Great Hall.

For their wedding ceremony in the Great Hall at Peckforton Castle we displayed large floral tree style arrangements on tall plinths to decorate either side of the aisle. The arrangements were then used as table centrepieces for the wedding breakfast.

Each arrangement was designed on our bespoke, natural log stands with moss bases. For extra detail we wrapped trailing ivy around each log stand and placed small clusters of flowers on the moss base.

To co-ordinate with the natural woodland styling we created a wooden crate arrangement to display their table plan cards. This was placed with our wooden ‘house’ post box in the long gallery. When styling your wedding day try to choose accessories that co-ordinate with the theme, incorporating the same materials and similar colour tones. We have lots of beautiful decorations to add those special little details to your wedding reception, take a look on our finishing touches section for more details.

Pretty in Pink: Marquee wedding flowers Mon, 04 Sep 2017 13:56:03 +0000 ]]> cheshire wedding flowersDressing a marquee is always a treat for me and my team, as it’s a perfect blank canvas. Clients don’t need to take into consideration any architectural details or interior styling dictated by the venue, so there are no limits on what can be achieved and couples can have a free reign when it comes to their marquee wedding flowers and decorations. marquee wedding flowers
Carrie and Owen chose a marquee for their wedding blessing and reception party. They envisaged their marquee wedding flowers to have a country garden feel mixed with natural wood and romantic heart decorations. But they also wanted the overall look to be elegant and classic, rather than something too rustic. We discussed colour schemes and finally decided on a combination of pale pink and dusky pink with ivory. This colour palette worked well with the marquee and natural woods. A mix of eucalyptus varieties and ferns gave everything a fresh outdoors feel.aisle flowers

We installed large white plinths at the entrance to the marquee and lovely luxurious arrangements were placed on top. These made a great statement as guests arrived on the day.entrance arrangments

For the ceremony, we added pretty pomander style bunches to the elegant chiavari chairs. These were made up of baby pink sweet avalanche roses mixed with eucalyptus and gypsophila and created a floral aisle, through the marquee. At the top of the aisle, a huge wooden heart, supplied by The Word Is Love made an impressive backdrop along with stacked wooden crates containing light up LOVE letters. The look was completed with log tea light stacks, pillar candles and little floral bunches. wedding chair decorations
Beautiful grey washed wooden cubes were filled with a combination of pale and dusky pink roses, waxflower, spray roses and lots of eucalyptus. These were placed on all the guest tables and looked stunning against the crisp white linen and crockery and again, ensured the pretty, elegant look our bride & groom wanted was achieved. The top table was decorated with similar arrangements and dressed with more candles, wooden logs and tea lights. We have lots of options for adding romantic candle light to your wedding decor, take a look at our Candles and Lanterns styling page for more information.natural wedding centrepiecetop table arrangements

A stunning, large rose ‘tree’ was created and took centre stage in the marquee. Ribbons and seating cards were hung underneath an abundance of roses and this became the beautiful seating plan and was a real talking point amongst the guests. pink rose arrangement
Finally, guests were delighted with a gorgeous cake table which displayed an ivory four- tiered cake by Bloomsbury Wedding Cakes, this was surrounded by pink and white cake pops for guests to enjoy. We dressed the whole table with soft petals, floral bunches and cake flowers including delicate lisianthus, soft fern and sugary pink roses. wedding cake pops
By keeping the variety of flowers used in the overall scheme to just a select few and ensuring the greenery did not compete with the flowers, we ensured our couples wish for ‘Country Garden Elegance’ was rose bouquet

Wedding flower tips – Cheshire Magazine Thu, 24 Aug 2017 15:35:14 +0000 ]]> spring wedding flowers

How to choose your wedding flowers

It was lovely to be asked recently to provide some wedding flower tips for couples choosing their wedding flowers, to feature in the ‘Tips from the pros’ article in the September edition of the Cheshire Magazine. It was great to be involved in the article with lots of wonderful cheshire wedding suppliers, and to help brides and grooms with their wedding planning.

cheshire wedding florist

It can be quite overwhelming planning your wedding and if you are looking at how to choose your wedding flowers I have put together some wedding flower tips which should help you along the way.

wedding flower tips

Consider the style of your venue

If you have chosen a modern city centre venue, this is more likely to suit elegant, formal displays of high impact flowers such as orchids, roses or calla lilies. Where as natural arrangements of country garden blooms and mixed greenery will work perfectly in a stately home, marquee or rustic barn.

Decide on a budget

I know this is the most difficult one to work out, as the majority of couples have no idea how much wedding flowers cost and why would you. However it is a great help to give your florist a rough idea of how much you would ideally like to spend, even if you can give them a price band to work within.

We work on many weddings with budgets between £1500-£2500 which include bridal party flowers, ceremony decor and table centrepieces. However, if you are looking for large dramatic displays, a flower arch and extra decor you may need to consider a larger budget of £2500-£4500.

arley hall wedding

peckforton castle wedding flowers

Choose a colour palette

When looking at a colour scheme for your wedding flowers and decorations think about the colours in your reception room. If there are any bold colours in the room decor then I would recommend trying to work with colours that are going to blend together. Otherwise you will need to allocate more of the budget trying to mask the colours in the room, having to cover walls, curtains or carpets just to suit your colour scheme can be a huge extra expense.

I would also suggest working with a colour palette incorporating different shades of colours rather than being tied to one specific shade of a colour. This creates a much softer look and will make your wedding planning much easier. Take a look at some of the examples below of beautiful wedding colour palettes and check out the colour selections on our blog to see more examples of wedding flowers in certain colours schemes.

purple wedding ideas

white wedding flowers

burgundy wedding flowers

Consider the season

I always recommend incorporating seasonal flowers into designs, mainly because when a flower is in it’s natural season it will usually be at it’s best quality and price. It also helps to create a more relaxed atmosphere and a feeling of being surrounded by nature when you have varieties of flowers and foliage that are flowering in gardens at that time of year. Having said that, just because you are getting married at a certain time of year doesn’t mean you have to stick to those flowers and colour schemes that people associate with that time. We have worked on many winter weddings with beautiful blush pinks and spring weddings with oranges and burgundy.

samlesbury hall wedding

The best advice I can give is to try and be flexible with your flower choices and avoid setting your heart on a specific flower until you have discussed the availability with your florist, they will be able to suggest flowers to suit your colour scheme and style that are available at the time of your wedding.

Finding ideas and inspiration

For wedding flower ideas take a look through wedding magazines, real weddings and styled shoots on wedding blogs and there are lots of beautiful images on Pinterest. Save pictures of any designs you like and any arrangements that are in your colour palette, these will be really useful to show your florist. It is very easy to get carried away when looking for flower design inspiration, especially on Pinterest. The images you save should be a starting point and a source of inspiration for your florist to create unique designs specially for your wedding. We have lots of wedding inspiration boards on Pinterest to help you get started.
