The lovely Danielle & Stephen got married at St. Mary’s Church in Sale yesterday, and had their wedding reception at Mottram Hall in Cheshire.

Mottram Hall is a beautiful Cheshire wedding venue, the St. Andrew’s Suite is a lovely neutral room for wedding receptions, with subtle and elegant decor.

Their colour scheme for the wedding was white and silver with hints of pale lilac. Danielle wanted a neat hand tied of ivory roses for her bouquet, with sparkly diamante details. I used a beautiful floral, diamante piece set over the rose heads which swept across one side of the bouquet. Then on the binding of the bouquet I attached a lavish diamante brooch.

The bridesmaids were wearing dusky lilac dresses, so to compliment their dress colour we decided to add some delicate lilac freesia, lisianthus and stocks to their bouquets. The pale lilac flowers worked beautifully with the ivory roses, and to add a hint of sparkle in their bouquets Danielle had asked for some diamante to be placed in a few of the rose heads.

The Groom’s buttonhole was a large ivory rose with silver wire detail and simple greenery, designed to co-ordinate with the bridal bouquet. The groomsmen were each given a smaller ivory rose with a hint of lilac lisianthus and greenery.

Their mums were each given a delicate corsage of small ivory roses and dendrobium orchids with diamante detail.

For the reception decorations we provided tall martini vases with hanging glass globes for the guest tables, each featuring an elegant white flower arrangement. The vases were displayed on mirrors decorated with crystals.

On the top table we displayed a selection of silver glass votives with tea lights, and vases filled with clusters of white wedding flowers, including roses and hydrangea. As well as small martini vases with large blooms and crystal tea light holders. To dress the front of the table we provided organza swags and bows.

At the entrance to the St. Andrew’s Suite Danielle had asked for a pair of table plan trees to display their table cards. Each tree was dressed with crystals, hearts and glass globes with roses. We also provided our vintage, birdcage post box which was placed on the gift table for their wedding cards.

Jemma and Mark got married at Christ Church, near Wilmslow and their wedding reception took place at Stanneylands Hotel.

For the bridal flowers, bridesmaids and buttonholes they wanted quite soft neutral tones with ivory and blush pink flowers.

Jemma’s bridal bouquet was a hand tied design including roses, ranunculus and lisianthus in ivory and blush pink, the stems were part bound with a delicate ivory lace ribbon.

The bridesmaids each had a hand tied bouquet of gypsophila (baby’s breath). The flower girl was given a mini bouquet of gypsophila and a delicate hair circlet to wear.

The groom’s buttonhole was a blush pink Sweet Avalanche rose to match the blush pink in the bride’s bouquet.

The groomsmen were given a cluster of gypsophila (baby’s breath) for their buttonholes, which co-ordinated with the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

For the church ceremony flowers we created gypsophila wreaths which were hung either side of the entrance doors. Inside the church Jemma asked for pew ends of gypsophila which we placed in hessian cones to match some of their reception decorations.

Jemma & Mark had collected lots of interesting containers to use for their decorations to create the eclectic and informal atmosphere they wanted for their reception. They decided to source beautiful vintage china cups and saucers for wedding favours to give to their guests. We placed flowers in each of the tea cup place settings, each had either a ranunculus, tulip or rose head with a small cluster of gypsophila.

The reception flowers were to have more varieties of flowers than the bouquets, and using a mix of pastel shades. The vintage wedding flowers we chose included blush pink roses, lilac stocks, dusky pink lisianthus, lemon narcissi, clematis, gypsophila and pale pink tulips.

The shoot took place at Styal Lodge Wedding Venue in Cheshire, one of my favourite wedding venues! I knew it would be perfect for our theme of Metallic wedding ideas, with two different colour schemes of white & silver, and cream & gold. The neutral decor and natural wood created a lovely backdrop for both styles. We also managed to brave the weather for a few shots in the gardens. Lucy Greenhill, the photographer for the shoot did a fantastic job of looking at how to use different areas within the venue and around the grounds to reflect the two different styles.

As we had three beautiful models involved, and to be able to showcase a variety of products and styles we decided on two different ‘looks’ within the theme. The first had a natural, romantic feel in cream and gold, accessorized with lace and pearls.

We were spoilt for choice with the gorgeous gowns, veils and hair accessories Nicole from Pearl Bridal Boutique had provided for the shoot. Nicole collaborated with hair and make up artist Jennie Freedland to style the models perfectly for each setting.

I created a variety of fresh and silk bouquets for the shoot, as well as designing two table settings. The romantic, gold table featured a natural centrepiece with beautiful blossom branches, which matched with the stunning ivory and gold wedding cake from the Cheshire Cat Cake Company. Francesca also made co-ordinating cupcakes and macarons with gold leaf detail.

Laurel Weddings have an exciting new collaboration with the Cheshire Cat Cake Company providing luxury, wedding dessert tables which include a beautiful wedding cake, a selection of sweets and tasty treats. We designed the dessert table to co-ordinate with the second metallic ‘look’ which was styled in white and silver creating an elegant and glamorous feel, with crystals and diamante details to add a hint of sparkle.

The bridesmaids had a similar mix of flowers to the bride’s bouquet, and the same textured, hand tied style. pale pink rose

Katie and Richard had their wedding ceremony and reception at Manchester Town Hall. They didn’t have a particular colour scheme in mind for the wedding but Katie had some great ideas about the style of bouquets and arrangements she liked and the types of flowers they wanted to incorporate.

Hand tied, textured bouquet

Hand tied, textured bouquet

Katie wanted a mixed, hand tied bouquet with lots of different textures and an unusual colour combination, which worked beautifully. We looked at lots of different flower types and narrowed it down to a mix of blush pink roses, green hypericum berries, white double tulips, burnt orange carthamus and navy blue eryngium. The stems were part bound with a navy blue satin ribbon.

For the reception decorations at their Manchester Town Hall wedding Katie wanted table centrepieces of gypsophila. We decided on a low centrepiece design with wreath rings of gypsophila and hurricane vases with pillar candles.

As they had a round table for their head table, rather than a traditional long top table, we thought it would be nice to have their centrepiece a little bit different. We decided to keep the same design, but have the floral arrangement in the style of Katie’s bouquet. We included a little bit of gypsophila with the mix of Sweet Avalanche roses, carthamus, eryngium, ranunculus, tulips, hypericum berries and eucalyptus foliage.

]]> A few weeks ago I had the great pleasure of creating wedding flowers and decorations for the lovely Alison & Tony. Not only did I get to make lots of lovely arrangements for them but we were also invited to attend the wedding day. It was a fantastic day and we wish them both every happiness in their life together.

West tower wedding

Alison & Tony got married at the beautiful West Tower wedding venue in Aughton, Lancashire on Valentine’s Day. They wanted an elegant and romantic feel with red roses mixed into the bouquets and arrangements, teamed with burgundy, pink and ivory flowers.

For Alison’s bouquet I created a teardrop shape of red and pink roses, pink lisianthus, orchids and double tulips with delicate greenery.

The bridesmaids were wearing burgundy dresses so we decided to use more burgundy and deep pink flowers in Alison’s bouquet and then the bridesmaids had more of the lighter shades and some ivory flowers. For their bouquets we used a mix of roses, double tulips and carnations.

Their younger child bridesmaids were each given a silk ivory rose to carry, decorated with pearls, pink wire detail and ribbons.

The wedding ceremony flowers included artificial flower garlands with mixed roses to decorate the staircase and silver glass vases arranged on the ceremony table. The vases of flowers were then used on the top table during the wedding reception.

As you probably know, I entered the Wedding Industry Awards this year, and was lucky enough to be the Regional Winner for the North West for wedding flowers. This week I had the pleasure of attending the awards ceremony in London, at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, it was an amazing night and great to meet so many talented wedding suppliers from around the country.

Copyright Laurel Weddings - www.laurelweddings.com

Unfortunately, I didn’t win the National wedding florist award, that honour went to Kate Avery Flowers. It was lovely to be there and support the other finalists from the North West, including the fabulous Flossy & Leigh makeup artists, the amazing Howard Wing Wedding Singer, and the fantastic Ashes Wedding Venue who were each presented with National Awards.

Now that the awards are over, I can finally see what all my lovely brides and grooms said about me (don’t worry, they made it anonymous!) and I’m blown away by all the comments! So many lovely things said by everyone. I just wanted to say an extra special thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me, and to write such kind words.

Here are just a few of the many many lovely comments that were written:

Laura was the best supplier we had. Her flower designs are outstanding & she understood and interpreted my brief perfectly. I had many iterations to my order, and she patiently revised the order each time. She has such pride in her work and it comes through. I literally gasped when I saw the room.

Laura was absolutely brilliant, from discussing ideas right through to delivery on the day. She understood the theme and colour palette we had and was very good at suggesting what flowers to use for our bouquets and room dressing. All the flowers exceeded my expectations and we had many compliments

We felt so at ease with Laura, we were so impressed with her relaxed attitude and professional manner, giving suggestions without force and really embracing our theme. Nothing was too much hassle and even a foot of snow didn’t get in the way! Ten months on, I still have my bouquet!

Laura was a fantastic florist, she understood what I wanted straight away and I cried when I saw my bouquet; it was perfect (and is sat proudly on display in my house). We had so many comments of how wonderful the flowers were – no-one could believe they were artificial. They did a superb job!

As part of the judging process for the national award I was asked to create a sample wedding bouquet and matching buttonhole which is currently on it’s way to London for the judging panel to view on Tuesday.

I decided to create a bouquet that suited the season, with a wintery feel. The hand tied bouquet contains a mix of pale green carnations, wax flower, viburnum berries, eryngium, chrysanthemum, eucalyptus and twisted hazel. For the binding on the bouquet I chose a natural hessian with an elegant ivory lace over, which was secured with navy pins to co-ordinate with the dark blue berries and eryngium.

The groom’s buttonhole is designed as a natural cluster and tied with a decorative lace ribbon, to match the binding on the bridal bouquet.

Since I had a selection of flowers spare after creating the two samples I decided to create a co-ordinating table centrepiece, suitable for a winter wedding. I adore candlelight, especially in winter and it just creates such a romantic atmosphere. This arrangement is designed around a glass hurricane vase with ivory pillar candle.

The results of the national awards are announced in January,

so fingers crossed until then!
