You’ve chosen your bouquet, organised your floral table centrepieces and decided on the flowers for the top table but, planning a summer wedding means you can indulge even further when it comes to your flowers. Installing floral wedding decorations outdoors is something that works very well, for this time of year. Weather permitting, your guests may be spending much of the day outside and surrounding them with flowers, as they take drinks on the lawn is the perfect way to create a day with the ‘wow factor’.
If you are having an outdoor wedding, the floral arrangements and displays can turn a simple area into a beautiful setting in which to hold your ceremony and enjoy your day. Depending on your budget, gorgeous full floral archways or large impressive displays will transform the space. Or placing rose plants in pretty pots along each side of the aisle will set the scene and can also be given as gifts to your guests at the end of the day.
The entrance to your ceremony and reception are fantastic opportunities to make a statement and incorporate the theme and colours of your day from the outset or even to add a pretty focal point for your photographs. Keep things traditional and dress your church doorway with blooms and greenery and for extra impact consider adding urns or pedestal displays to your floral wedding decorations. Or why not hang a pretty flower wreath or heart above a doorway.
The options are limitless and we, at Laurel Weddings, love to get creative for our clients and have produced some amazing arrangements for our brides and grooms. Consider using mainly greenery with added lanterns and candles for an atmospheric display or use the architecture and features of the venue and gardens as inspiration. Hang greenery, wreaths, ribbons or glass tea light holders from trees for a magical feel or dress existing shrubs and plants with large blooms and rose heads, for an instant wedding venue makeover. We have a fantastic range of lanterns available to hire, please check out our venue styling pages for more information.
I always discuss with my couples the option of using faux and silk flowers for outdoor displays too. This option is a great way to have a particularly large display, which can also be more practical to install without the cost that something similar using fresh may incur. Also, making a design using a mixture of fresh, greenery and silk can produce spectacular results.
